We can use make use of particle goals to create a soft spring constraint. This can be used for things like tails, IKs, etc. Due to the fact that the spring system is particle based, we can add fields and collisions to it which can create a lot of different possibilities.

Reverse foot locks are a great way to control the foot. The problem we encounter is when we use the roll and twists
because the ankle joint moves away from the controller and the rotation of the controller is away from the actual

This class references that one a few times if I remember correctly. Just FYI our students get a discount on Animator Friendly Rigging.

for me I found you not only get a tiny tiny speed increase, but its also really easy to script in a reverse vs a SDK curve. ( just a lil bit )

Great question!
If you can use a node like reverse in place of an animation curve you get a small performance increase in general. You also have a layer of safety from accidentally deleting the SDK curves. Lastly a reverse node is much, much easier to script the creation/connections when automating the rig later on.
Why is Goosh using a reverse node instead of a SDK to set IKFK switches (in the neck, for instance)? I usually use SDK but I have never asked myself which is better for that case.
